Monotonous framing

An interesting perspective was brought up about my display pieces. My husband told me they all looked the same. THe good part about that is there is consistency in my work. The negative is that it creates monotony. Upon further discussion he noted that while the display looked professional and “neat” the consistent framing made them unremarkable.

Duly noted. In an effort to be “professional” and make the pieces seem gallery like I had framed them all the same. Simple black frames and white matts. The downfall is that the framing didn’t reflect the character of the images!

A critical piece I neglected. Being intent on making the images themselves unique I hadn’t thought of how the frame extends the style and character of the photos and captures attention. A good framing enhances the art work an un thought out one creates “meh”.

So onto looking at my artwork as a sholistic piece. Not a “framed” piece.
